Janevit Kraisin

Executive Committee (South)

Janevit’s interest in politics emerged when his older brother, who joined the Ramkhamhaeng students’ movement during the Black May incident, told him about his first-hand experience. He was active in his brother’s rally for senatorship. The campaign was successful, but the Senate was abruptly suspended following the 2006 coup. Janevit worked for a Senator for Nakhon Si Thammarat between 2008 and 2014. He entered local politics as a candidate for Chief Executive of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Administration Organisation but had to suspend the campaign due to the 2014 political crisis.

Profile

Janevit was born in Nakhon Si Thammarat on 30 September 1969. He went to Benjamarachutit School in Bangkok, where he received an Alumni Award in 2005. He holds an LL.B. and LL.M. from Ramkhamhaeng University. He is a social activist in his capacity as the Founder and President of Youth Development Foundation. He is also the President of ‘Khon Rak Thin’ Nakhon Si Thammarat local network.

Janevit has two children. His son follows in his footstep and studies law at Ramkhamhaeng University. His daughter suffered brain damage since she was born. This, in part, made him take an interest in disabilities’ rights, equal rights, and welfare policies. He wants to work for the quality of life for all youths, so that everyone has equal rights and equal access in the Thai society.

Why Future Forward

Janevit founded Youth Development Foundation in 2004 with the hope of providing youth with opportunities to spend their free time in a positive way. The Foundation organises ‘anti-drug’ volunteer camps for kids and teens and pro-democracy learning activities. He realised the limitations of a foundation in effecting changes to the wider audiences and saw politics as a more effective means for social changes. He decides to join the party with the motivation to work for the public good.

Fun Facts

Janevit loves exercising, especially cycling. He cycles 10 kilometres a day, 3-5 days a week. Having been born and raised in the South, he also has a love for spicy curry dishes and other Southern cuisine.
